The highly anticipated 2nd The Hobbit movie from Peter Jackson, The Desolation of Smaug. The studios (New Line Cinema & Warner Bros) supplied some amazing character photos of the main cast in full costume. 

 

The design focused on these individual portrait shots, along with dwarvish runes running along the top and bottom of the pages and framing the box-outs. An elvish inspired typeface was used to tie the whole design together and showcase both the dwarvish and elvish languages within the article.  A rich red leather background that hints at Smaug as well as the idea of the movies having started life as a book. Gold was used as  a subtle secondary colour to signify the huge piles of gold and treasure featured in the film.
